Hospital birth at 42 weeks, longer than expected, fast at the end, and "the most beautiful, empowering, outstanding experience of my entire 32 year old life".
Cosette's Birth
Cosette Leelee was born on Tuesday, August 29 at 1:47pm at South Coast Medical Center in Laguna Beach, CA. Never was there a question in my mind on whether or not I would have a natural, drug free birth. Don't get me wrong though - I am not one of those high pain tolerance, grin and bear it type of women. Over the years I had acquired an arsenal of pain medications and sleeping pills and used them at the first sign of discomfort. However, when it comes to my baby, my attitude changed. When I found out I was pregnant, I started reading everything I could find on natural childbirth. I read Ina May Gaskin's 'Guide to Childbirth' and devoured it in days. It empowered me and gave me confidence in my ability to birth naturally. I then went on a search to find the right technique and thankfully stumbled upon Hypnobabies.... Full birth story here

First Baby, induction with midwives in a hospital: Natural Childbirth without pain? Yes!
My Birth Story
by Valerie Larenne
Before I became pregnant for the first time, I was one of those women that thought "natural childbirth" was for granola-bar hippie types (at best) or fanatical masochists (at worst). It was most certainly not for me - a modern woman of the 21st century! I never once questioned whether or not I would have an epidural if I should be so lucky as to get pregnant! Like a lot of women, I envisioned driving up to the hospital the day I was due and screaming, "Give me drugs, NOW!!" the second I walked in the door. After all, everyone I know who's had a baby had had an epidural, and why not take advantage of the wonderful tools available to us now through the "miracle" of modern medicine? Case closed, slam dunk, right? Valerie's pain-free Hypnobabies birth story here

First Baby, using natural induction techniques, resulting in a beautiful, natural birth:
My Birth Story
My experience with Hypnobabies was great and I would like it if everybody could find a natural way like this one to bring their babies to this world because that is one of the best presents we can give them. I took a Hypnobabies class, which my husband and I loved, and practiced the scripts, Cds and finger-drop technique. It gave us time each day to concentrate on our baby's birth, and relax together. We both felt very confident and ready to enjoy our baby's birth! Full birth story here

10 lb, 2 oz baby - "This is the best!" :
Franklin Jackson Atticus Million Polonsky's Birth Story
I began practicing Hypnobabies in January in preparation for Franklin's arrival. I had heard about Hypnosis for childbirth from a friend who used it for the birth of her daughter. She loved her experience and suggested I give it a try. I searched the internet, found Hypnobabies and joined Carole Thorpe's class. I have to admit, I was VERY skeptical that it could be possible for me to give birth without drugs and without pain, but I was willing to see where this class took me. Full birth story here

Karlene and Jim's First Hypno-Baby, 3 weeks "early and absolutely calm":
This was our first pregnancy. We found out we were pregnant in June and realized we were embarking on a whole new journey. I began to buy books that would help me understand all that I would go through in the next 9 months. I really enjoyed reading about my pregnancy and soon figured out that there were many opinions about the whole process of labor and delivery.
I knew one thing for sure - I wanted to have a natural childbirth. I did not want to put drugs in my body or risk anything for the sake of my baby. In the back of my mind, however I wondered if I could do it. I had heard many stories of agonizing, long, painful childbirths and I couldn't help but second guess myself at times. Jim and I decided we wanted to have our first baby in the hospital - he was more comfortable with that and I supported him. I knew there were many procedures that hospitals enforce that I may feel uncomfortable with so I knew we needed to educate ourselves. Karlene's full birth story here:

Crystal and Lee's First Hypno-baby - WOW:
Michael David entered the world rather precipitously on Sunday, October 13th at 7:08 am (says the 911 operator). 911 operator you say? Why yes! What a story...
I suppose it goes back to our Hypnobabies classes. I have been having these preterm pressure waves for a month now. I would listen to the Hypnobabies "Baby Stay IN" CD, and my hypnosis CDs, to deal with any discomfort (and really, that's about all it was), which would help stop or slow the pressure waves, and make them feel just fine. Michael was born where???

Crystal and Lee's Second Hypno-baby, from Dad's point of view:
Drew's arrival - 11/02
Where to start.... Well, maybe I should let you know that Drew is child number 3 for us, but Hypno-baby #2, and homebirth #1. You can read about our previous Hypno-baby experience somewhere on this page. And I won't bore you with the details of how we chose a homebirth, but it was the most awesome experience I have ever been a part of. Full birth story here

JADEN SKYE'S BIRTH
It all began Saturday morning, October 15. After being officially 8 days past due, I awoke to 'bloody show', and regular 'pressure waves' (as we call them in Hypnobabies training) coming every 20 minutes or so. I spent the day with my mom and Kelly buying food, getting the house ready, mentally preparing for the journey I was about to embark on. One I had spent months preparing for, but couldn't believe was finally here. Saturday came and went and, disappointingly, Sunday slowly started to slip away. By Sunday late afternoon, pressure waves were anywhere from 8 to 12 minutes apart, and surprisingly long, lasting at least a minute and sometime 1 ½ minutes. Full birth story here

Tatiana Efremova Gives Birth To Pasha, 10/07
On Tuesday my friend Oksana arrived by train. I invited her to be present for the birth because having her around stirs strange and beautiful things in me. She is a mystic, a woman of power, a healer and a friend. The days she was there she called to me to enter into a calmer, more tuned-in place and I hissed back that I would get there just as soon as I settled my bills and wrapped up things at work and had my home ready for a water birth and... and... In short, I was frantic with worry that something supremely important would be left undone. Instead of the gentle puttering of the nesting instinct, I spent the last days of my pregnancy in mental chaos. Tatiana's very spiritual birth...

The Birth of Isabel Thea Lewis
By Thea Rae Lewis, proud Mother
Born September 26, 2008, 10:30pm
Week 40, 41….
My due date came and went…Even though I was working with a midwife group, I was still concerned that I may have to be induced. So I took action. I ordered the Hypnobabies Baby Come Out CD and got it within a day (thank you Sooze – my Hypnobabies instructor). I booked an appointment with a chiropractor that my Doula, Elena, recommended. Meanwhile, the midwife group advised me to have appointments to monitor my baby’s movements and water levels.
I listened to my Baby Come Out CD and my Hypnobabies Fear Release CD’s a few times over the weekend. That Tuesday, which was exactly 41 weeks, I had an appointment with one of the midwifes. I asked her to measure my cervix opening. She said I was at 1 centimeter. This was encouraging. Later that evening, I had an appointment with the chiropractor who specializes in working with pregnant women. While at the chiropractor’s office, I went to the restroom, I started having pressure waves
(contractions). I explained to the Dr, only do a mild treatment, because I think I am on my way to having this baby. They gave me a wonderful massage and a small adjustment. It was starting…Thea's Pitocin Assisted Birth Story here

DR. Misty Zaugg's 5th baby:
We’re excited to welcome Jacob to our family!
He came on an eventful Friday, May 9th, 2008, at 6:48 pm, 8 lbs. 14.5 oz and 21.5 inches long after a few hours birthing at home and 2 1/2 hours at the hospital.
9 am – I have an OB visit. The Non-Stress Test is perfect, and I am dilated 2-3 cm, but Jacob is positioned very high. My midwife places a low dose of prostaglandin gel to help ‘encourage’ things over the next few days, since they will push for a full induction on my due date next Thursday because of the insulin-requiring gestational diabetes I’ve had since week 8 of pregnancy. I really don’t want a full induction! Misty's Full BirthStory here

Jen’s 5th Baby, No Pain, Easy Pushing
I've been trying to think of how to explain my experience, but there
really aren't logical words to describe it all. This was my 5th
child-birth and was BY FAR the best one. I was well trained in
un-medicated child-birth through two other methods and had 3 un-medicated
births before hypno-babies. The whole Hypnobabies class helped my mental
state and prepared me for my birthing time. I faithfully listened to my
cd's and I really embraced the affirmations for pregnancy and birthing
time. When my birthing time started, I put in my birthing day affirmations
cd and then my other cd for birthing time. The pressure waves were so
manageable that I wondered if I would know when to go to the hospital.

Ashlea's 2nd baby, first Hypnobabies birth:
I signed up for a Hypnobabies Class when I was 33 weeks pregnant for a personal home class with just my husband and I. I was a bit worried at first with me deciding so late in pregnancy that I needed to take the class but my wonderful instructor Katherine Stanglin convinced me it would still work and she was 100% right!! This was my 2nd birth. My first birth was an induction 9 days past the guess date for high blood pressure so I was hooked up to Pitocin and instantly had waves for 13 hours and somehow managed to birth naturally and vaginally but with tons of medical interventions: pitocin, breaking my water, internal fetal monitoring, episiotomy - 3rd degree tear and vacuum.
So needless to say I walked away from my first birth disappointed mainly in myself because there were times I begged for pain medication and an epidural but my mom and husband knew how important a drug free birth was that they didn’t listen to my begging. When I became pregnant with my second baby I was thrilled but nervous and I had lots of fear surrounding the birth but I also was convinced to do whatever it took to make this a good experience and one I was proud of. I hired a doula, changed OB’s, changed hospitals and took my Hypnobabies course. So here the birth story begins.......Read Ashlea's full Hypnobabies Birth Story here

Tiffany R's Hypnobabies Birth:
Dear Hypnobabies,
I thought I should probably write down my birth story and send it to you. Better late than never right? It was the most amazing experience ever.
My husband and I live in Utah and had taken the Hypnobabies 6 week course with an instructor in our town. Our baby's guess date was around January 14th 2008. On the evening of January 20th around 11:00 pm I felt a little crampy. Nothing major or out of the norm. We told our other 3 children we didn't think their little brother would be coming tonight and to go get some rest and we would wake them in the morning. At around midnight I was curious myself to see if this was really it. So we bundle up in our snow clothes and scarves and headed out into the snowy night to take a walk and see if that might help encourage things along. At about 12:15 I felt my first noticeable pressure wave. After a few of them I would have to stop and lean on my husband so I could turn off my “Lightswitch”(a Hypnobabies technique). We would just hold each other and sway, almost as if we were dancing in the silent still of the night. It was so peaceful and quiet outside. I knew after getting around the block once that this WAS IT!!! Click here to read why Tiffany says: "I give all the credit to Hypnobabies!"

We are so grateful for the Hypnobabies program!
Cody Bear’s guess date was 1/22/10, and the week before, I had started to slow down on my walks, felt Braxton Hicks more often, and slept a lot more. He felt really low and big inside me. On Wednesday the 20th I woke up feeling mild menstrual type cramps off and on from 3am to 6am. I had a doctor appointment that day at 11am so I told her how I had been feeling and she said it was possible signs of labor but she wasn’t sure. I had an internal exam and she said I was 1cm dilated and that his head was very low. From everything I’ve read and heard, a baby can stay like this for days, even weeks, so I wasn’t convinced he would show up any time soon.
I went and got my hair done, and came home around 4:30 pm to walk my dogs. That evening Aaron asked me what I wanted for dinner and I was dying for the biggest, spiciest burrito so that’s what he brought me. I ate the whole thing in about 2 minutes! At about 9pm I asked him to read me our Hypnobabies “Visualize Your Birth” script, which was a good one to start with since it’s so long. With him reading it slower than it is on the CD, it took almost 50 minutes, and the next thing I knew it was 10pm. We went to bed but I was having some trouble sleeping. Kendra went from 2.5cm to 10cm in an HOUR!
Lily’s Birth as told by her daddy, Trevor...
Lily was born Monday at 8:24am. All natural, a healthy Hypno-Baby! Kendra was absolutely amazing!!!
3am, Sunday night - Kendra felt some pressure. More of a "menstrual cramp" type of pressure. I timed her waves and they were 2 mins. apart! But she was so relaxed. We went to the hospital. She had her headphones on : ) and the nurse looked her over and said Kendra was 2.5 cm and (you are not going to believe this) "If you were really in labor, you would not be so relaxed." I laughed when I heard it. She was going to send us home!
Because her waves were so close together and Kendra's explaining that they were pretty intense actually, she asked us to walk the halls for an hour. So we did.
6am...About 35 mins. into the walking Kendra's waves got pretty intense. She'd stop and hang on me and I'd say, open...open...open...Release. And then after a few times it happened. Kendra vomited (is that a word?) and her water released simultaneously. Wow! Then I ran and got the nurse and into the room we went.
I put on the CDs and Kendra listened to the “Fear Release” and “Deepening” CDs and waited. She was very relaxed and quiet. The waves would come and I'd relax her more. Full Birth story here, including our Hypno-Mom Kendra's version

Arwen Estelle’s Birth Story - "Hypnobabies Rocks!"
Arwen’s birth story begins long before her conception… it begins even before her older brother’s birth 2 ½ years before. Her birth story starts when I was 3 ½ and witnessed my baby brother’s home birth. I was a doula at his birth – bringing my mom cold washcloths, lying beside her, holding her hand. I loved that birth and have been hooked ever since. I even sculpted the human uterus and developing baby in the three trimesters of pregnancy in 7th-grade art class. Then my world got a major shock when, as a freshman in high school, I was told I would not be able to conceive or carry a baby to term (they told me I was missing an ovary and had a septate uterus with a very high chance of miscarriage). I cried when I saw pregnant women at the mall, and had to have ‘the talk’ with serious boyfriends – telling them that I may not be able to have children. Part of me always felt sad and angry, but when I met my husband and we became engaged, he said, “Have faith! Things will work out!” And they did.
